Unresectable Keeper of the Cure is Amy Glover's first book. She is currently working on a new book (as always) and editing an old one. She has a bachelor's degree from the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. She has won several awards for her short stories and enjoys writing poetry and exercising. Amy Glover lives in Colorado with her husband. She absolutely loves dogs.

This story was a breath of fresh air in a field of young adult fiction that often borders on the cliche. While "Unresectable" has all the pieces that make for a great coming of age story--action, drama, hardship, romance, etc--it quite nicely blends these fantastical parts of the story with very real questions lurking under the surface. What does it feel like to give yourself for someone else? Are we ever truly free to make decisions that cut that deep, or will social pressures always win the day? All of this told through the eyes of a female protagonist who has very real experiences and problems despite (and because of) her singular trait that drives the plot.
I particularly enjoyed the frank descriptions of the main character's Anxiety disorder. The symptoms and challenges were presented simply as matters of course; they were not some fatal crux or a deus ex machina-like source of salvation. Instead, they just were, which speaks more fully to the lived reality of mental illness and was a welcome break from a genre that often either over-romaticizes or over-dramatizes these very real struggles.
Great breakout novel from a brand new author. I can't wait to read the next!
